Sage Canyon Middle School to reveal new branding and logo with community celebration

After nearly a year of collaboration and creativity, the wait is finally over: Sage Canyon Middle School is ready to unveil its official branding and logo to the community.

What started as a series of brainstorming sessions with parents and students on names, colors and mascots has blossomed into a visual identity that school leaders say truly represents the spirit of the new school.

“We love our new logos!” said Principal Brian Jolley of Sage Canyon Middle School. “It was only seven months ago that we didn’t even have boundaries—let alone a great name and mascot. And here we are in May with a beautiful name and a great-looking mascot that our community is going to love.”

To mark the occasion, the school is launching a series of events and activities to introduce the new identity and get students and families involved in the fun.

The celebration kicks off with a social media teaser: a first-look reaction from select students and staff as they see the new logo for the very first time. That sneak peek will set the stage for a community-wide scavenger hunt that invites residents of feeder school neighborhoods to find hidden pieces of the new logo.

Participants who find a piece are encouraged to snap a photo with it and tag the official SCMS social media pages. Then, they can bring their piece to the current Sage Canyon office—located at Frontier Middle School—to redeem exclusive Sage Canyon swag. As each piece is found and revealed, the community will get closer to seeing the full logo in its final form.

The new brand includes two main logos and four accompanying “word marks” that feature the school’s chosen fonts and design elements.

Principal Jolley expressed gratitude for the support and legacy of Frontier Middle School, where many Sage Canyon staff and students are transitioning from.

“We feel fortunate to now be joining hand in hand with our Frontier friends to prepare these great middle school students to be successful at Cedar Valley High School. We recognize the great tradition Frontier has established and feel a huge desire to create a similar experience,” he said.

Frontier Principal Jarom Becar echoed those sentiments, calling the change bittersweet but meaningful. “Sage Canyon is a wonderful space for our community to learn, work, and play. It’s sad to see so many great people leave Frontier, yet I’m happy for this wonderful new adventure. New spaces, new friendships, and special memories are waiting.”

As excitement builds, one phrase has already caught on: Get ready to hunt like a Coyote.
