Eagle Mountain to host “Meet the Candidates” night ahead of municipal primary election
Eagle Mountain residents will have the opportunity to engage directly with local candidates at a “Meet the Candidates” night on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at the Overland Barn.
The event, co-sponsored by Eagle Mountain City and the Cedar Valley Council PTA, is designed as an informal open house to encourage voter education and civic participation in the upcoming municipal and school board elections.
The open-house format allows voters to speak one-on-one with candidates at individual booths or tables.
All 11 individuals running for mayor or city council, along with 20 candidates for the Alpine School Board, have been invited to participate.
“This is a chance for voters to hear directly from the candidates, in their own words, on the issues that matter most to Eagle Mountain,” said Eagle Mountain City Communications Manager Tyler Maffitt. “We want people to feel informed before they cast their vote.”
The event is free, nonpartisan and open to the public.
Residents are encouraged to come prepared with questions and to learn more about the priorities and vision of each candidate. From infrastructure and safety to schools, taxes, and neighborhood development, the topics discussed are expected to reflect the wide range of issues shaping Eagle Mountain’s future.
In addition to the candidate meet-and-greet, the City is exploring the possibility of holding its popular Food Truck Rally at the Overland Barn parking lot the same evening, providing an added draw for community members to attend.
“This partnership with the Cedar Valley Council PTA is a great example of community collaboration to promote civic engagement,” said Maffitt. “Local elections have a direct impact on our daily lives. This event is about giving residents the tools to make informed decisions.”
While this event is focused on informal interaction ahead of the primary election, a formal mayoral debate is also in the works and expected to be scheduled after the primary concludes.
The Food Truck Rally will be present for this event, instead of its typical location at Cory Wride Park. Residents can expect an accessible and welcoming environment to learn more about who’s on their ballot.
For more information and updates, residents are encouraged to visit the elections and voting page on the City website.
