City Council provides feedback on eagle monument

The Eagle Mountain City Council provided their feedback on re-installment plans for the eagle monument that was removed from its place at SR-73 and Eagle Mountain Blvd. in March of last year.

Eagle Mountain Public Works Director Brad Hickman presented different design options to the Eagle Mountain City Council during Tuesday night’s meeting. While the designs differed in base and lighting options, the shape of the eagle monument is planned to remain true to the original.

“I think there’s something very rustic and Eagle-Mountain-esque about it,” Council member Brett Wright said of the monument. “And it’s historic…It’s a community identity landmark.”

The monument, which has been in place since the 1990s, was removed due to cracks forming in its foundation.

Hickman explained that, as cracks grew, so did safety concerns. City staff made the decision to remove the monument and repair the foundation, mitigating risk to motorists driving by.

City staff will use the feedback gathered from Council to inform plans for re-installment of the monument.
