Pony Express Memorial Cemetery Decoration Policy
As Memorial Day approaches on May 25, residents of Eagle Mountain are encouraged to review the Pony Express Memorial Cemetery’s decoration policy. These policies help ensure the cemetery remains a respectful, safe, and well-maintained space for all visitors.
Decoration Policy
Grave decorations must be placed only in an existing receptacle or directly on a grave marker or headstone. Glass, porcelain, or other breakable materials are not permitted. Decorations of any kind may not be placed in the grass.
Hanging items, including shepherd’s hooks and wired baskets, are also not allowed in grassy areas, except during the winter season (October 15 through March 15).
Maintenance and Removal
Cemetery maintenance is conducted regularly, typically on a weekly basis. During this time, decorations, flowers, and other items are subject to removal to allow for mowing and general upkeep.
Following holidays, including Memorial Day, decorations will be removed approximately one week after the holiday. Items that do not comply with the City’s policy may also be removed as needed to maintain the grounds.
These guidelines help ensure the cemetery remains a respectful, clean, and accessible space for all visitors. Residents’ cooperation is appreciated in supporting ongoing care and maintenance efforts.
