Annual Christmas tree drop-off now open
Eagle Mountain City is once again offering its annual Christmas tree drop-off program.
The program allows residents to recycle natural, undecorated Christmas trees by dropping them off at the Rodeo Grounds parking lot. Collected trees are chipped into wood mulch, which is then reused in City flower beds and around tree bases throughout the community, keeping organic material out of local landfills.
Parks & Cemetery Supervisor Greg Robinson emphasized, “Recycling trees into mulch is preferable to placing them in regular trash. By reusing the material locally, the City reduces landfill waste while creating a useful resource for public spaces.”
The drop-off site is now open and will remain available through Jan. 30. Many residents have already begun participating, familiar with the long-standing service from previous years.
Only live, natural Christmas trees are accepted. All decorations, lights, tinsel, and tree stands must be removed prior to drop-off. Artificial trees and decorated trees cannot be processed and would have to be discarded. Live wreaths may be accepted if they are fully recyclable.
The drop-off site operates on a self-serve basis and is not staffed. Signage at the Rodeo Grounds parking lot directs residents where to leave their trees. Participants are asked to place all trees in a single designated pile to allow City crews to periodically bring in a chipper once enough trees have accumulated.
