Mid-Valley Rd. extension completion pushed to mid-January
The anticipated connection of Mid-Valley Road to Eagle Mountain Boulevard is now expected to open to traffic in late December or mid-January.
The delay stems from a material order placed last June that was postponed and is now scheduled to arrive in early January. Once delivered, installation of the road components is expected to take about one additional week.
The Mid-Valley Road extension project is a key piece of Eagle Mountain’s infrastructure plan, aimed at improving east-west travel and reducing congestion on major thoroughfares, including Pony Express Parkway and state Route 73.
The project will offer an additional route for residents and emergency vehicles, helping to ease reliance on existing roads.
Assistant City Engineer David Salazar described the challenges the city faces with its current road network.
“One of the primary challenges Eagle Mountain City faces is limited roadway redundancy,” Salazar said. “In several areas, traffic is served by only one or two access routes, which reach capacity quickly. When an incident occurs, it significantly compounds congestion.”
Salazar says the new connection will also improve emergency response times.
Without the Mid-Valley Road extension, emergency vehicles based at UFA Station 253 must navigate longer, less direct routes.
“Now they can head directly west to respond to emergency situations,” Salazar said.
Looking forward, the City plans to eventually expand the two-lane road to a five-lane corridor as development in the area grows, with future improvements funded in part by developers.
“The roadway currently consists of two lanes, but it is planned to be expanded to five lanes over time. That expansion will occur as development progresses, with developers contributing to the improvements,” Salazar said.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about construction updates and to exercise caution when traveling near the project site.
