Dates set for candidate debates
Eagle Mountain residents will have two opportunities this month to hear from candidates seeking City leadership.
The Mayoral Debate is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, followed by the City Council Debate on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in the same location. Residents may also submit questions in advance through the City’s online form.
On this year’s ballot are the mayor’s seat and two City Council seats. The mayoral race has narrowed to City Councilmembers Melissa Clark and Jared Gray, who advanced beyond the primary election.
For City Council, four candidates are competing for two open seats: Emily Buss, Charlotte Ducos, Craig Whiting and incumbent Brett Wright.
The debates will provide voters with a side-by-side look at how candidates plan to address the city’s most pressing challenges, including rapid growth, infrastructure needs, public services, and budget priorities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear candidate responses to resident-submitted questions.
For those unable to attend in person, video recordings will be available on the City’s website after each debate.
