Repairs planned for Pony Express pavement settling

Eagle Mountain City will begin roadway construction on Pony Express Parkway on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, to repair pavement settlement near a large stormwater culvert. The work is scheduled to continue through Nov. 26, 2025, weather permitting.

The project will require traffic to be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of construction. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time for travel, especially during morning and evening commutes.

The roadway remains safe for drivers, but repairing the area before winter is important to ensure long-term stability. The pavement settlement is the result of natural shifting around the culvert, which has caused the surface to dip slightly. Left unaddressed, the settlement could worsen during freezing and thawing cycles, potentially leading to more significant repairs in the future.

The timing of the work comes late in the construction season because other critical projects in the City required earlier attention. To account for the compressed schedule, crews will be working continuously, without the usual time-of-day restrictions, in order to finish before winter conditions set in.

The construction zone will be clearly marked, and a traffic control plan has been developed to help vehicles move safely through the area. Drivers are asked to use caution, follow posted signage, and watch for workers and equipment along the roadway.

Once complete, the project will restore the roadway surface and reinforce the underlying infrastructure.

Eagle Mountain City appreciates the patience of residents and commuters while this work takes place. Updates on progress will be shared throughout the project, along with reminders about traffic impacts.
