Construction begins on Pioneer Crossing flex lanes
Drivers along Pioneer Crossing will soon see construction activity as work begins on a project to add new flex lanes, designed to ease congestion and improve travel through the corridor. Crews began work on Sunday night, Sept. 7, with the first full day of construction taking place Monday, Sept. 8.
During construction, residents can expect:
- Night work with lane closures to minimize daytime disruption.
- Lane shifts and new traffic patterns as crews move through the corridor.
- Work in the median and on the shoulders, requiring extra caution from drivers.
- Sidewalk closures and detours for people walking and biking.
The north sidewalk between Redwood Road and 2300 West will be closed from Sept. 8 through Oct. 10. Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to use the south sidewalk during this time.
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) encourages motorists to allow extra travel time, pay attention to signage, and drive carefully to keep crews safe.
This project is part of the Northwest Utah County Program, a long-term effort to coordinate and communicate major transportation improvements across the region. As Utah’s population continues to grow, these projects aim to support the economy, reduce traffic delays, and preserve quality of life.
Rather than providing updates on each project separately, the Northwest Utah County Program offers a single, consistent source of information. Residents can learn about upcoming work, impacts, and long-term benefits through the program’s website.
