Eagle Mountain Public Library hosts first-ever toy drive
The Eagle Mountain Public Library is spreading holiday cheer with its inaugural Toy Drive, aiming to support local families during the holiday season.
The Toy Drive will culminate in a Toy Closet at the library, where residents can select toys for their children.
“As a library, we see a wide range of our community and can pick up on the needs of our residents,” says Heidi Garces, a programmer with the Eagle Mountain Public Library. “The library aims to aid the community in all possible avenues, we want our community to know that we care.”
The Toy Closet will be open to the community from Dec. 16 to Dec. 21, during the library’s regular hours.
Adults can pick one toy per child, with items available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Library staff will be on hand to assist and answer questions.
“We have created the Toy Closet to help assist the community during the holidays, to provide children with access to toys and relieve some of the stress families may be facing,” Garces said.
Donations are still needed to make the event a success. The library is accepting new toy donations until Thursday, Dec. 19 during its operating hours.
“We would like to extend our thanks to residents whose donations are making the Toy Closet even possible,” says Assistant Library Director Kristin Allred. “It’s great to see our community come together to help each other, especially during this difficult time of year.”
Residents are encouraged to participate by donating toys or visiting the Toy Closet to ensure every child in Eagle Mountain has something special to unwrap this holiday season.
