Sidewalk Expansion Along Golden Eagle Road Begins Today

The City is doubling the width of the sidewalk across from Brookhaven Elementary to improve safety for students who walk to and from school.

Work on the Golden Eagle Sidewalk Expansion Project begins today, Monday, September 28. The City Council approved the project to widen the sidewalk on the north side of E. Golden Eagle Road, across the street from Brookhaven Elementary.

The City’s Streets Department will double the width of the sidewalk between N. Evans Ranch Drive and Silver Creek Way. Construction is expected to take four-to-six weeks. The wider sidewalk will increase the safe walking path for students.

Crews will work only during school hours, starting after the school day begins and finishing before school lets out. With Brookhaven’s bell schedule of 9:15 AM-3:30 PM, that keeps construction from adding to drop-off and pick-up traffic. The existing sidewalk will be accessible during non-school hours.

Drivers should use caution near the work zone and follow posted signs. Parents are encouraged to remind students to stay on the sidewalk and keep an eye out for crews and equipment.
