EM30 Anniversary Treasure Hunt

Eagle Mountain City Treasure Hunt for 30th Anniversary

Number of treasure chests: 30
Number of prizes: 30 (maximum one per household)
Hunt period: From the launch date (November 2, 2026) through December 1, 2026

1. Sponsor and Purpose

Eagle Mountain City is hosting the EM30 Treasure Hunt to celebrate the City’s 30th anniversary. Thirty treasure chests will be hidden at publicly accessible locations around the City. Participants who find a chest and follow the claim instructions in these terms may receive a prize.

2. Eligibility

  • Participation is open to residents of Eagle Mountain City, Utah.
  • One prize per household. A household that has already found a chest should leave any other chest it finds in place for someone else.
  • Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian with them when claiming a prize at the December 1st City Council meeting or alternate arranged pickup.
  • City staff, elected officials, and members of their households are not eligible.
  • The City may require proof of residency before awarding a prize.
  • No purchase, payment or registration is required.

3. How to Participate

  • The City will publish a riddle-style clue for each of the 30 chests through its official channels. Clues may be released all at once or over time, and the City may release additional hints.
  • Each chest contains a numbered card (#1 to #30) with instructions for claiming a prize.
  • All chests are in publicly accessible areas. None are buried, and no digging or climbing is needed to reach them.
  • Most hunt locations have one treasure chest, but a few have two, and no location has more than two.

4. Claiming a Prize

To claim a prize, the finder must:

  1. Take a photo of themselves with the chest at the spot where it was found.
  2. Email the photo and the chest’s location to communications@eaglemountain.gov.
  3. Bring the chest and the numbered card to City Hall during the City Council meeting on December 1, 2026, and claim the prize there.

Additional terms:

  • One prize is available per chest, for a maximum of 30 prizes.
  • A prize is awarded only when the chest and its card are returned. Prizes will not be awarded for a photo alone, a card without its chest, or a chest without its card.
  • Finding a chest does not guarantee a prize until the City has verified the find and the participant’s eligibility.
  • If two people submit claims for the same chest, the City will award the prize to the first verified submission received at communications@eaglemountain.gov.
  • Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred.
  • Unclaimed prizes are forfeited after the December 1 claim event at City Council meeting (unless alternate pickup has been arranged prior to December 1).

5. Safety and Conduct

  • Search only in publicly accessible areas, during park and trail hours.
  • Do not enter private property, restricted or closed areas.
  • Do not dig, climb structures, damage landscaping, or disturb wildlife.
  • Do not touch, mark or disturb any historical, cultural, or natural sites.
  • Obey traffic laws and posted signs. Use extra care near roads and parking lots.
  • The finder should take the chest home only to return it for the claim. Do not move, hide or tamper with a chest to keep others from finding it.
  • Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors in their care.
  • The City may disqualify anyone who acts unsafely, unlawfully or disruptively, or who breaks these rules.
  • The City is not responsible for any damage or injuries that may occur during the search.

6. Hunt Period and Changes

  • The hunt begins on the date the City announces and ends on December 1, 2026. The City will retrieve any chests still hidden on that date.
  • The City may pause, change or cancel the hunt, or move or replace a chest, because of safety concerns, weather, damage, theft or other circumstances. Updates will be posted on the City’s official channels.
  • The City is not responsible for chests that are lost, stolen, damaged or moved by others. Such chests may or may not be replaced, at the City’s discretion.

7. Photos and Publicity

  • Photos submitted to claim a prize are used to verify the find and will be handled according to City policy.
  • Submitting a photo does not give the City permission to use a participant’s photo or likeness in promotions. The City will ask for consent before any such use.
  • Participants are asked not to post the exact locations of chests on social media, so others can still enjoy the hunt.

8. Liability and Assumption of Risk

Participants are responsible for their own conduct and safety. Some chests are on trails and hillsides. Wear suitable shoes, bring water, and check the weather before heading out. Nothing in these terms waives any right or protection that cannot legally be waived.

9. General Conditions

  • By participating, participants agree to these terms and any additional instructions from the City.
  • The City may verify eligibility, investigate suspected violations and disqualify participants who do not comply.
  • The City’s decisions on all matters related to the hunt are final.
