Fireworks Restricted Citywide

Citywide Fireworks Restriction for Independence Day

On June 25, Governor Spencer Cox issued an executive order placing a temporary statewide restriction on fireworks through July 5 as Utah faces some of the most dangerous wildfire conditions in state history.

After reviewing the order with the Unified Fire Authority, Eagle Mountain City will follow the Governor’s direction and prohibit the discharge of personal fireworks citywide through July 5. With historic drought, critically dry vegetation, and firefighting resources already stretched across the state, our open spaces and surrounding foothills carry too much risk this year. The vast majority of Utah’s wildfires this season have been human-caused, and a single spark near our community could be catastrophic.

This was not a decision we made lightly. We know how much our residents look forward to celebrating Independence Day, and we are grateful for your understanding as we put the safety of our neighborhoods, homes, and first responders first.

You can still celebrate with us. We are excited to host a one-of-a-kind Independence Day celebration on July 4 beginning at 8 PM at Cory B. Wride Memorial Park. The evening will feature a special edition Farmers Market, a Kids Patriotic Parade, and a professionally managed Fireworks Show to commemorate America’s 250th birthday and Eagle Mountain’s 30th anniversary. Leave the fireworks to the professionals this year and join your neighbors for a safe, spectacular show.

This restriction will be enforced. Discharging fireworks in a prohibited area is an infraction under Utah law, punishable by a fine of up to $1,000. More importantly, anyone who negligently, recklessly, or intentionally causes or spreads a fire is liable for the full cost of suppressing that fire and all resulting damages, costs that can reach tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the parents or guardians of a minor can be held responsible for those costs. Violators will be cited and held liable under Utah Code 53-7-225.1 and 65A-3-4.

To contact the Utah County Sheriff’s Office – Eagle Mountain Division, call Non-Emergency Dispatch at (801) 798-5600. For emergencies, please call 911.

To contact Unified Fire Authority in non-emergency situations, please call (801) 794-3970. For emergencies, please call 911.

Please do your part to protect our community: do not discharge personal fireworks within City limits through July 5, report any wildfire or suspicious activity immediately, and help us look out for one another during this extraordinary fire season.

Thank you for your patience and your commitment to keeping Eagle Mountain safe. As we celebrate America’s 250th and our City’s 30th, we look forward to marking Independence Day and continuing to ascend together as a community.
