Newly-elected leaders take the Oath of Office
Mayor Jared Gray and City Council members Brett Wright and Craig Whiting were sworn-in to office Monday, Jan. 5 at the Oath of Office ceremony.
City Manager Ben Reeves opened the ceremony by reflecting on his time in public service, noting that Mayor Gray is the 10th mayor he has worked with during his career as a city manager. Reeves shared a quote from a council member he once served with who said, “It’s not ours, just our turn.”
Reeves emphasized the responsibility elected officials carry and the lasting impact their decisions have on future generations. He compared public service to planting trees whose shade current leaders may never enjoy, but which will benefit those who come after them.
Following Reeves’ remarks, each elected leader addressed the audience, expressing gratitude and a strong commitment to serving the Eagle Mountain community. Interim City Recorder Lacie Messerly then administered the Oath of Office, first swearing in Mayor Jared Gray, followed by Council members Brett Wright and Craig Whiting.
Mayor Gray and Council members Wright and Whiting will each serve a four-year term, representing Eagle Mountain from January 2026 through December 2029.
