Candidate filing opens in June for Eagle Mountain’s 2025 Municipal Election

Eagle Mountain residents interested in serving in local government will soon have the opportunity to file as candidates for the 2025 Municipal Election.

Three positions will be open: Mayor and two City Council seats, each serving four-year terms.

The candidate filing period begins Monday, June 2, 2025, and closes promptly at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025. Filings must be submitted in person during regular business hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the City Recorder’s Office. To qualify, a candidate must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years old, and a registered voter of Eagle Mountain City.

Additionally, candidates must have lived within the city continuously for at least 12 months preceding the election date. Individuals must also be mentally competent, must not have been convicted of a felony or a crime against the elective franchise (unless their rights have been restored), and must pay a $50 filing fee at the time of filing.

The 2025 election cycle will include a Primary Election, if necessary, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025. The General Election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025.

The deadline to register to vote is Friday, Aug. 1, 2025. Early voting will run from July 29 through Aug. 8. Although municipal candidate filings and election oversight are managed by the Eagle Mountain City Recorder’s Office, Utah County will administer the voting process. Residents who are interested in serving as poll workers can contact Utah County Elections at 801-851-8126.

Elected officials in Eagle Mountain are compensated for their service.

In addition to municipal offices, the 2025 election will also include school board races. Twenty-one school board seats, including six new seats within the proposed Lake Mountain West District, will be up for election.

However, candidate filings for school board positions will be handled separately by Utah County. Those interested in running for a school board seat or seeking more information should contact the Alpine School District or visit Utah County’s website at utahcounty.gov/news/314.

Residents who want to take an active role in shaping the future of Eagle Mountain are encouraged to consider running for office or participating in the upcoming election.
