Water Conservation Guidance for Eagle Mountain Residents

As the weather starts to warm up, many residents begin thinking about outdoor watering and how to keep their landscapes healthy. This is also a great time to be mindful of water conservation efforts across our community.

Current Recommendation

The Utah Department of Natural Resources publishes a Weekly Lawn Watering Guide that gives recommendations based on real weather data from across the state. The current recommendation in Eagle Mountain is no watering yet. Cooler temperatures and recent moisture mean most lawns do not need supplemental water at this time. Waiting a little longer not only follows seasonal conditions but can also help encourage deeper, healthier root growth as we head into the summer months.

A Few Easy Ways to Water Wisely

When the guide does recommend watering, a few small adjustments go a long way:

Landscape Incentive Program

For anyone thinking about longer-term changes, Eagle Mountain residents are now eligible for the Landscape Incentive Program through Utah Water Savers and the Central Utah Water Conservancy District. The program offers $1.50 per square foot for lawn replacement, $0.50 per square foot to convert planting beds to drip irrigation, and $50 per tree through the Treebate Program (up to 10 trees per project). Both residential and commercial projects are eligible to apply for this program. A site coordinator will need to visit before any work begins, so be sure to apply before starting.

Free Educational Workshop

Residents looking to take the next step in creating a more water-efficient and attractive landscape are also invited to attend an upcoming free educational class, Localscapes: Creating Your Ideal Utah Yard, presented by the Central Utah Water Conservancy District. This introductory workshop covers the basics of designing a Utah-friendly yard, including how to improve curb appeal while reducing outdoor water use. Participants will learn best design practices and walk through the five steps of Localscapes to help generate ideas for their own landscapes.

The class will be held at the Eagle Mountain Public Library (1650 Stagecoach Run, Eagle Mountain, UT, United States, Utah) on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
