Youth Council to host “Sweethearts” dance tomorrow
Eagle Mountain’s Youth City Council is inviting teens from across Cedar Valley to attend the upcoming Sweethearts Dance.
The dance will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, from 7–9:30 p.m. at the Overland Barn. The activity is open to youth ages 14–18 and will feature free admission, free food and even a 360-degree photo booth. Attendees are encouraged to wear semi-formal attire for the evening.
The event is designed to give teens a fun, welcoming place to connect with one another. The Youth Council’s goal is to create opportunities for youth to build friendships, strengthen community ties, and enjoy a positive social environment. They also believe that increasing connectedness among local teens can help reduce bullying in schools.
City Councilmember Craig Whiting explained the importance of participation and involvement in youth-led programs.
“As a City Council member, I applaud the Youth City Council for the events they host for the youth of Cedar Valley,” Whiting said. “Eagle Mountain City has a large youth population who need opportunities to gather together, enhance personal relationships, and get off electronics. I encourage the youth in the city to consider joining the Youth Council and participate in these youth-led events.”
