Walmart opens its doors to shoppers

Hundreds of residents gathered early Wednesday morning to celebrate the grand opening of the new Walmart Supercenter in Eagle Mountain.

Located at 9399 N Spring Run Parkway, the highly anticipated event began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where Walmart representatives, store leadership and community leaders officially welcomed the store to the city.

Store Manager Kevin Forsgren, a Utah native and 23-year Walmart veteran, said the Supercenter was designed with the customer in mind.

“Walmart is proud to be part of the exciting growth happening in Eagle Mountain,” said Forsgren .

Grants were also presented to the Utah Food Bank and Tabitha’s Way Food Pantry, highlighting Walmart’s commitment to supporting the community from day one.

“This new Supercenter is built with the customer in mind and reflects our commitment to serving the community—not just by providing convenient shopping options, but by supporting the needs of local families and being an active partner with the city,” said Forsgren.

Excitement was evident as the doors opened and shoppers streamed into the 175,000-square-foot store. As only the second of its kind in the nation, the next-generation Supercenter introduces features designed to make shopping more convenient and interactive, including digital touchpoints, expanded grocery selections, and improved pickup and delivery services available immediately.

The store also brings 375 new jobs to Eagle Mountain, adding to the more than 20,000 Walmart associates already employed across Utah.

Outside, the grand opening took on a festival-like atmosphere. Rows of tents were set up for vendors, offering free samples, giveaways, and promotional items to the hundreds of attendees.

“We are inspired by the warm welcome from the community and the interest in our employment opportunities,” Forsgren said.

At the store entrance, Eagle Mountain merchandise was available, providing a local touch to the grand opening.

The celebration continues throughout the day at Eagle Mountain’s Walmart location.
