Vandalism causes temporary closure to Smith Ranch Park restrooms
Damage caused by vandalism to the Smith Ranch Park restrooms has forced a temporary closure in part of the facility.
According to staff, a rock was thrown into a toilet in the men’s restroom, breaking the side of the fixture. The damage occurred in the handicap-accessible stall, which will remain closed until the toilet can be replaced.
Parks & Cemetery Supervisor Greg Robinson responded to the issue saying, “Ever since the park was expanded we have seen issues there with vandalism, graffiti, breaking into power boxes, damaging bathroom facilities, graffiti on and in the playground equipment, all of which is costing the city in time and money to fix – causing some of those areas to be closed until the repairs can be completed.”
The City is assessing the damage and will work to make repairs as quickly as possible to restore full access to the restroom. Residents are reminded that vandalism to public facilities impacts the entire community and can result in costly repairs and reduced access for park users.
