UDOT to host public hearing on Pioneer Crossing flex lane project

Eagle Mountain motorists who commute through Saratoga Springs will soon see major changes to Pioneer Crossing aimed at reducing congestion during peak hours.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is hosting a public hearing on Wednesday, April 9, to share details about the planned lane expansions and gather feedback from residents and commuters.

The project, set to begin this year, will introduce flex lanes, allowing two additional lanes of travel in the peak direction during rush hour. These lanes aim to ease congestion for drivers heading in and out of the area by adjusting lane configurations based on traffic flow.

The first phase of construction focused on removing medians in 2024, making way for the future flex lane system. Now completed, a lane control system will be installed to safely manage the flow of vehicles in the new center lanes.

Additional improvements are planned for 2025-2026, including a deep curb replacement project to enhance drainage along the roadway. Proper drainage will help minimize flooding risks, reduce roadway wear and tear, and prevent hazardous conditions like standing water and ice during storms.

Pioneer Crossing serves as a major route for Eagle Mountain residents traveling to and from northern Utah County and beyond. The planned flex lanes are designed to alleviate bottlenecks during peak hours, but construction-related delays are expected as the project progresses.

This public hearing is an opportunity for residents to ask questions, share concerns, and provide feedback about how these changes might affect their daily commutes.

UDOT encourages all interested residents to attend the April 9 public hearing to learn more about the project and provide input. For those who cannot attend in person, UDOT is also accepting written comments.

Eagle Mountain City will share updates and reminders about the hearing on its social media platforms and in its monthly newsletter to ensure residents stay informed.
