Teen TechnaBLAST offers hands-on career exploration and drone show

This weekend, Eagle Mountain City is hosting an event designed to inspire career exploration.

Teen TechnaBLAST, held at Cory Wride Memorial Park, will give local teens a chance to engage directly with professionals from a wide range of industries, explore future career paths and enjoy a video game-themed drone show.

“We really wanted to break away from the typical career fair model,” said Dawn Hancock, Eagle Mountain City’s Events Manager. “Teen TechnaBLAST helps teens discover what they enjoy and shows them careers they may never have thought of.”

Unlike school-based career fairs, this free, City-sponsored event offers interactive, hands-on displays. According to Hancock, this is a way to present career options in a way that the area’s youth learn best.

At the end of the evening’s fun is a synchronized drone show. Many of the drone formations this year were inspired by gaming and digital culture.

“When we first planned the drone show, we worked closely with high school students. Now they’ve taken the lead, and it’s become their own,” said Hancock.

Along with educational and career exploration opportunities, the event will feature food trucks, a DJ and a variety of business vendors.

“There’s a real benefit to having young people involved in events like this,” Hancock added. “When teens are active in their community, they’re less likely to feel disconnected or disengaged. We hope this gives them a sense of pride and belonging.”

For parents considering whether to encourage their teen to attend, the event offers a meaningful opportunity in a safe, structured environment. It’s designed to help teens learn something new, enjoy themselves and start thinking about their future in a way that feels engaging and approachable.
