New mayor and council members to be sworn in Jan. 5

Newly elected leaders will be officially be sworn in Monday, Jan. 5 at 5 p.m. marking the beginning of their service to the community.

During the ceremony, elected officials will take an oath pledging to faithfully carry out the duties of their office, complete their terms with integrity and act as responsible stewards of taxpayer resources by upholding the U.S. constitution, the Utah Constitution and the public trust. This formal process signifies the official transition of leadership and accountability to residents.

The swearing-in ceremony is a public event and all community members are invited to attend. The Deputy City Recorder will administer the oaths, with elected officials, their families and City staff present to support. Residents are encouraged to participate and welcome the City’s new and returning leaders.

Eagle Mountain City Manager Ben Reeves explained the value of community involvement in local government, “Municipal government is the level of government closest to residents. Attending the swearing-in ceremony provides an opportunity for residents to build relationships with elected officials and engage directly with those who make decisions affecting daily life.”
