New Lake Mountain School District Board sworn in, transition begins

The first governing board of the Lake Mountain School District was sworn in Tuesday evening.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Saratoga Springs City offices, where the mayors from each community administered the oaths of office. Board members sworn in include Joylin Lincoln, Julie Myers, Julie King, Charity Judkins, Ilene Strong, Matt Isaacson and Melissa Sauser. All seven were elected in the November 2025 General Municipal Election.

The Lake Mountain School District is scheduled to welcome students on July 1, 2027. The newly-established school district will serve Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs, Cedar Fort and Fairfield.

The new district was formed after voters approved splitting the Alpine School District into three separate entities in 2024. Many residents in the western communities indicated that rapid population growth contributed to concerns about representation, school construction priorities and the ability of a single district to serve a wide area with differing needs.

The Utah County Commission approved the boundaries for the seven school board seats earlier this year. The mapping process was based on census population blocks, state guidelines for equal population distribution and anticipated growth in areas such as Eagle Mountain’s Parkway Fields, Overland, and Firefly neighborhoods.

The newly sworn-in Lake Mountain School District Board selected its first officers, naming Julie King as board president and Matt Isaacson as vice president. In its initial actions, the board also adopted its fiscal year 2026 budget totaling $750,000, covering the period from Jan. 1 through June 30, 2026.

Members also approved several foundational policies to govern the administration of board meetings as the district begins formal operations.

Additionally, the board approved a contract to lease office space from Saratoga Springs City at 1307 N. Commerce Drive, which will serve as the district’s administrative location. Board members also adopted their meeting schedule for 2026, establishing a regular cadence for district business as organizational work continues ahead of the Lake Mountain School District’s July 2027 operational launch.

More information about the transition and board activities will be posted on the temporary Lake Mountain School District website as it becomes available.
