Library hosts “Touch-a-Truck” event to connect families with City services
Families in Eagle Mountain will have the chance to get up close and hands-on with the vehicles and machines that keep the City running.
The Eagle Mountain Public Library will host its annual Touch-a-Truck event on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Public Works Building.
This free, family-friendly event invites children to climb aboard street trucks, inspect heavy equipment, and even peek inside the City’s salt storage facility used for winter de-icing. Public Works staff will be on hand to answer questions, explain how each machine works, and share how their department supports the community year-round.
According to Library Director Michele Graves, the event is designed to be an opportunity for residents to make connections with the people who help maintain the city’s roads and infrastructure.
“Touch-a-Truck allows kids to discover and understand the scale of the equipment and talk directly with the people who use it every day,” says Graves. “It creates a whole new appreciation for the work that goes into keeping Eagle Mountain running smoothly.”
The event also serves as an informal opportunity for residents to share feedback and learn more about how the Public Works departments operates.
“We love that this event opens the door to conversations,” Graves added. “Residents can ask questions, talk about what they see happening in their neighborhoods, and get a clearer picture of how things like snow removal, road maintenance, and street repair come together.”
Children, meanwhile, can explore the equipment in a safe and supervised environment.
“Kids absolutely light up when they get to sit in the driver’s seat of a snowplow or press a button on a street sweeper,” Graves said. “It’s such a fun way to show them these big machines.”
Touch-a-Truck reflects the Library’s broader commitment to fostering community connection through creative programming that goes beyond books and reading.
The Touch-a-Truck event is open to all Eagle Mountain residents and free to attend. Families are encouraged to arrive early, as parking and event space may fill quickly.
