Late summer rains can bring flooding concerns; here’s how to prepare

While not every year brings heavy late summer rain, when it does arrive in Eagle Mountain, it can come quickly. Gutters can be overwhelmed, pooling near foundations and filling low-lying areas.

The City’s Stormwater department is reminding residents to take preventive steps now to avoid costly damage later.

Make sure gutters and storm drains are clear of debris, and check that downspouts direct water away from homes, especially window wells and basement-level entries that are particularly vulnerable during sudden downpours.

For residents in flood-prone areas, the City provides free sandbags. These can be requested by calling the Eagle Mountain City Hotline at 801-789-5959 and selecting Option 4.
