Eagle Mountain Symphony Orchestra brings “Monsters and Curses” to the stage this October

The Eagle Mountain Symphony Orchestra is inviting residents to kick off the Halloween season with a night of music, costumes and community fun.

The orchestra will perform its fall concert, Monsters and Curses, on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at Frontier Middle School.

The concert is designed to be both festive and family-friendly, with an open invitation for attendees to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes. The evening’s program will explore music that captures the spirit of mystery and magic with spooky classics and thrilling movie soundtracks.

“Our programming this year is inspired by the seasons, and we think that we’ve got a great selection of music that you can enjoy all year,” said Laverna Horne, president of the Eagle Mountain Symphony Orchestra. “This performance is geared towards families with kids, and anyone else who wants to enjoy an evening of fun while supporting the arts in our community.”

Tickets for Monsters and Curses will be available both at the door and online through the orchestra’s website, eaglemountainsymphony.org. Seating is first-come, first-served, and doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The Eagle Mountain Symphony Orchestra has been steadily growing in reputation and reach since its founding. Its mission is to bring live orchestral music to the community, providing both cultural enrichment and opportunities for local musicians to share their talents.

Horne emphasized that events like Monsters and Curses are about more than just the music.

“We see our concerts as gatherings that strengthen community bonds,” she said. “At a time when it is easy to focus on all the negative things happening, these concerts are a way to celebrate what brings us together.”

With its seasonal theme, the concert is expected to appeal to a wide range of audiences. Children are especially encouraged to join in the fun by dressing in costume.

“Our goal is to make the orchestra accessible,” Horne explained. “Some of our concerts will feature more “serious” classical music, but what we’re playing at this one are well known classics that everyone should recognize. If you’ve never been to a symphony concert before, this is the perfect chance to come and see what it’s like!”

In addition to offering performances, the orchestra provides opportunities for musicians in the area to perform at a high level without having to leave the community.

“We are always looking for more people to come and join us! If you are a musician looking for a group to perform with, please get in touch with us,” said Horne. “We’d love to have more string players in particular, but we have other openings that we need to fill as well.”

To join, send the Eagle Mountain Symphony Orchestra an email at eaglemountainsymphony@gmail.com.

“The Eagle Mountain Symphony Orchestra musicians are your neighbors, your coworkers, and your friends,” Horne said. “When you come to a concert, you’re supporting people right here in Eagle Mountain and surrounding communities.”
