Eagle Mountain City’s Trailhead magazine wins national award

Eagle Mountain City has received national recognition for its efforts to connect with residents through print media.

The City’s annual magazine Trailhead was awarded Best External Publication in the country last week at the 2025 City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA) Savvy Awards, held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Savvy Awards draw submissions from cities and counties across the United States and Canada. The program highlights the most effective local government communication products, from branding and publications to digital content, photography, and public outreach campaigns.

Trailhead was introduced in 2024 as a magazine designed to welcome new residents to Eagle Mountain while also providing significant information about City services, local history, and recreational opportunities.

Its development is produced by the City’s Communications department with the goal of producing a publication that would feel practical and approachable while reflecting the community’s identity.

Communications Manager Tyler Maffitt said the recognition is meaningful.

Trailhead wasn’t created with awards in mind,” Maffitt said. “It was built to give residents a reliable starting point to learn about their city. To have that work acknowledged at a national level is both humbling and encouraging.”

The award adds to a growing list of honors Eagle Mountain City has received in recent years from the Communications department. At the 2024 Savvy Awards, Eagle Mountain City’s rebrand was named Best Brand/Logo in the Country, and its monthly video series Living with Wildlife received Second Place in Best Educational Content.

Maffitt said each project reflects the City’s effort to strengthen communication in ways that serve residents first.

“Our responsibility is to communicate clearly and consistently,” Maffitt said. “These recognitions tell us we’re on the right track, but there’s always more work to be done.”

The 3CMA Savvy Awards are considered the highest professional recognition in the field of government communications. The program receives thousands of entries each year, judged on criteria such as creativity, effectiveness and community impact.

For Eagle Mountain, the award for Trailhead highlights the City’s attempt to facilitate greater community connection.

“Eagle Mountain is still a young city, and a lot of people here are experiencing it for the first time,” Maffitt said. “Our hope is that Trailhead makes that transition easier and helps people feel more rooted in the place they’ve chosen to call home.”
