Community encouraged to donate blood at upcoming Red Cross Blood Drive

Eagle Mountain City is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Hall.

The event aims to collect 25 units of blood, with the capacity to see up to 45 donors throughout the day. As of now, only nine participants are signed up, and the Red Cross is calling on the community to help fill the remaining slots.

This holiday season, donating blood offers a unique and impactful way to give back. Each donation can save up to three lives, supporting patients who need life-saving treatments for surgeries, trauma recovery, cancer care and chronic illnesses.

Blood donations are especially critical during the holidays when donation rates typically drop while demand remains steady.

Volunteers, donors and supporters collectively make a significant difference. According to the organization, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, underscoring the urgency of maintaining adequate supplies.

Participants at the Dec. 18 blood drive will receive a Red Cross long-sleeved t-shirt as a token of appreciation. Additionally, donors can feel confident in the safety and ease of the process. The Red Cross ensures all blood drives adhere to strict health protocols to prioritize donor safety.
