City readies for annual dirt road treatments this week

Eagle Mountain City will be applying magnesium chloride to several dirt roads on the morning of Thursday, July 17 as part of its annual dust control and road maintenance efforts.

Mag Chloride is used because it helps bind fine dust particles and retain moisture in the road surface, which reduces airborne dust and helps keep the roads firmer and more drivable over time.

Treated areas will include all of Lake Mountain Road, the north side of Eagle Mountain Boulevard, a short section of Lake Mountain Road on the south side of the boulevard, and the dirt road near the rodeo grounds.

These sections will be closed to through traffic but will remain accessible to local traffic. If travel is necessary, residents are asked to drive no faster than 5 mph to prevent the solution from getting on their vehicles. Street crews will be on-site to assist and provide direction.
