City Begins Groundwork In Eagle Monument’s Restoration
Almost a year after removing the historic eagle and rock monument, Eagle Mountain City began construction and groundwork in preparation for the landmark’s restoration and return to the site.
The metal eagle and former rock monument, located at the intersection of Eagle Mountain Boulevard and SR-73, were removed in March 2025 due to deterioration. On February 24, 2026, work began to improve the site ahead of the original eagle’s installation on a new monument.
At the time of the eagle’s removal, Public Works Director Brad Hickman explained that the monument’s base had suffered from wear and tear over time, making restoration a priority. “The rock structure is failing, and we want to address it now before it becomes a bigger issue,” Hickman shared. “We are committed to preserving the monument’s significance while ensuring it stands into the future.”
In preparation to install a new monument featuring the original eagle at the intersection of Eagle Mountain Blvd. and SR-73, the City has begun work to stabilize the ground and restore the retaining wall at the landmark.
Due to the construction work, residents might experience minimal traffic disruptions before SR-73 on NB Eagle Mountain Blvd.
“We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to restore the monument,” added Hickman. “The City is excited to see it return in a refreshed and lasting form.”
More updates will be provided throughout the construction and reinstallation process over the coming months. Residents can stay updated by following the City’s communication platforms, including the City’s website and social media accounts.
