Home-based Businesses

“Home business” means any type of commercial activity or business conducted primarily out of a residence in any area of Eagle Mountain City which meets the criteria found in Chapter 17.65 EMMC, Home Businesses

Commercial Businesses

“Commercial business” means any type of commercial activity or business located in a commercial, industrial, agricultural or airpark zone within Eagle Mountain City that does not meet the criteria for a home business. For the purposes of this chapter, model homes with a sales and/or engineering office, as well as temporary or permanent sales trailers, shall be classified as commercial businesses. In Eagle Mountain City, commercial business means businesses which meet the criteria found in Chapter 5.05 EMMC, Business Licenses.

Door-to-Door Solicitation

To obtain an active solicitation license, please complete the application found in the link below prior to engaging in any residential solicitation. Residential solicitation is not permitted until the license is issued. Each solicitor from a business must be licensed. If the solicitor does not appear in the list below, the solicitor is not permitted to engage in residential solicitation in Eagle Mountain City. 

Those violating any terms or provisions will be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor and will be punished by a fine up to $1,000 and/or a jail sentence up to six months.

Food Trucks & Temporary Vendors

Mobile food services have rapidly become a key part of Eagle Mountain’s food scene, offering a diverse range of options that enhance the quality of life for residents and local food enthusiasts alike. Please obtain an Eagle Mountain City commercial business license prior to doing business within Eagle Mountain City.

Alcohol License

The sale of alcohol is regulated in the state of Utah and Eagle Mountain City. Prior to selling alcoholic beverages, your business will need to complete a license through Eagle Mountain City, in addition to a license through the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverages (DABS) 

Please note that Eagle Mountain City Code contains special restrictions regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages that should be carefully reviewed.

Business Licensing FAQs

City Code stipulates that “Unless exempted by state or federal law, it is unlawful for any person to engage in or carry on or operate any business in the city, or to use any property to conduct business in the city, without first making application for and obtaining the required license or exempt permit from the city.”  

“Business” means and includes all activities engaged in within the incorporated limits of the city, carried on for the purpose of gain or economic profit, and for the purposes of this chapter shall include nonprofit corporations. The acts of employees rendering service to employers shall not be included in the term “business” unless otherwise specifically prescribed. 

Business Licenses are renewed annually.

A Business License for a home-based business costs $25.00. A Business License for a Commercial Business is $75.00

Food handlers permits are issued by the County Health Department.  

Some types of businesses may require additional licenses. For example, businesses planning to sell alcohol must receive a license to do so. A professional license may also be required. Licenses may also be required from the County or the State.
