Library launches Toy Closet project to support families this holiday season

The Eagle Mountain Public Library is preparing to bring holiday joy to local children through its Toy Closet project, an initiative that offers support to families who may be struggling financially.

Now through November, the library is collecting new, unused toys to stock the Toy Closet.

Beginning in December, Eagle Mountain residents in need will have the opportunity to select gifts for their children, helping ensure that every child can experience the holidays.

Library Director Michele Graves said the project grew out of the library’s longstanding mission to support the community in meaningful ways.

“We already have a food pantry in place, and last year we felt it was time to go a step further,” Graves said. “Families face a lot of financial pressure around the holidays. The Toy Closet is our way of helping ease that stress while making sure children still feel the joy and excitement of the season.”

The Toy Closet debuted last year and was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from residents. Graves said she and her staff were moved by the gratitude they witnessed.

“For some, it meant the difference between having presents under the tree and going without,” Graves said. “It reminded us how even small acts of kindness can have a ripple effect across the community.”

The library hopes to build on that success this year, which ensures that even more families benefit.

Donations of new, unused toys can be dropped off at the library during regular business hours. All donations, no matter the size or type, contribute to making the holidays brighter for local children.

“A toy can bring a smile, spark imagination, and make a child feel remembered and cared for,” says Graves. “Every contribution helps us share that experience with another child in our community.”

The Toy Closet will be available only to Eagle Mountain residents. Details about opening dates and how families can access the program will be released in mid-November.

Until then, the library is encouraging community members to help fill the shelves with toys of all kinds.

For more information or to donate, residents can visit the Eagle Mountain Public Library during its regular hours.
