Residents invited to help shape community’s future development

Eagle Mountain City is inviting residents to play an active role in shaping the community’s future by participating in the update of its Future Land Use Map (FLUM).

This land-use planning tool provides a long-term vision for how and where property in the City will be developed, ensuring that growth is balanced with infrastructure needs, environmental sustainability and preserving the character of Eagle Mountain.

The Future Land Use Map serves as a strategic guide for the City, identifying areas designated for residential, commercial, recreational and other uses. While it is not a zoning document, the Future Land Use Map informs key decisions about future development, helping Eagle Mountain prepare for sustainable and orderly growth over the next several decades.

“We would really love to hear from the citizens of Eagle Mountain as we update the City’s Future Land Use Map,” says Planning Director Brandon Larsen. “As staff works to update the FLUM, we need to make sure we understand the desires and vision of the citizens.”

To facilitate public engagement, the City has partnered with GSBS Consulting to create an interactive webpage dedicated to the project. Through this platform, residents can explore information about the FLUM update and share their input. The interactive map allows users to identify areas they see as opportunities for new development, preservation, or improvements.

Additionally, a community conversation feature enables residents to connect with their neighbors, exchange ideas and discuss shared priorities for the future of Eagle Mountain.

The City stresses the importance of community feedback in shaping the updated map.

Whether it’s envisioning new parks or commercial centers, input from residents will help ensure the FLUM reflects the needs of those who live and work in Eagle Mountain.

“We feel fortunate to be working with community engagement experts, such as GSBS,” says Larsen. “They have successfully helped many other cities through planning and community engagement activities. The city is excited to see the feedback we get from our citizens through the FLUM webpage.”

As the project progresses, the webpage will be updated with additional information and developments, so residents are invited to check back regularly.

“The future is so bright for Eagle Mountain City. Beautiful neighborhoods are being planned, approved, and built. Commercial development is occurring. This is an amazing opportunity for residents to give their feedback to help shape the future of the city,” says Larsen.
