MVC update: Pioneer Crossing improvements near completion
The Pioneer Crossing improvement project is nearing the finish line, with completion expected by next Friday, Dec. 13. Currently, the project is approximately 80% complete, with significant progress made in recent days.
Current and Upcoming Work
- Shoulder Work: The contractor is conducting shoulder work along westbound Pioneer Crossing today and tomorrow. This activity is not expected to affect traffic flow.
- Utility Pole Removal: The utility poles in the area have been removed, marking a major milestone in the project.
- Paving: Crews will pave the balance of the outside lane on Friday, Dec. 6, provided temperatures and schedules align.
Additionally, grading and smoothing work is underway for the new and replaced multi-use pathway, further enhancing the area’s functionality.
Remaining Tasks
The final items on the checklist include:
- Narrow-Width Paving: Scheduled on the east side of 800 West to accommodate new double left-turn lanes from Pioneer Crossing.
- Striping: Painting at various locations of the intersection is slated for Dec. 11. This work may occur at night and will involve traffic control measures and lane shifts. Drivers are urged to stay alert for updated traffic patterns during this phase.
Project Impact
Once completed, the Pioneer Crossing improvements will enhance traffic flow, improve safety, and provide a more accessible pathway for pedestrians and cyclists. Drivers and residents are thanked for their patience as the project nears completion.
Stay tuned for updates as final touches are added to this transformative project.
