Mountain View Corridor construction update: Progress on Pioneer Crossing intersection
Work on the Mountain View Corridor and Pioneer Crossing intersection took significant steps forward last week, with paving completed on Friday, Dec. 6.
This effort marks another milestone in the Utah Department of Transportation’s (UDOT) project to improve capacity and efficiency at the intersection of SR-73, SR-145, and SR-85.
Recent and Upcoming Work
Crews are wrapping up final touches as the project nears completion. On Dec. 9, night work began for striping operations.
Contractors focused on installing stop bars for eastbound traffic on Pioneer Crossing and painting turkey tracks to demarcate turning lanes at the intersection of Pioneer Crossing and Mountain View Corridor. This required closing one through lane and a left-turn pocket for both eastbound and westbound traffic during the night.
Concrete curb sections were poured on Dec. 10, on the shoulders. Drivers should remain cautious, as concrete trucks and construction workers will be active in the area.
Additional paint striping across various parts of the intersection is planned for tomorrow, Dec. 11.
Project Overview
The UDOT improvements at this intersection aim to enhance traffic flow and safety. Updates include:
- An additional left-turn lane.
- Modified pavement striping to optimize lane usage.
- Relocated bicycle lanes to better accommodate cyclists and motorists alike.
Safety Reminder
With shifting lane configurations and active work zones, drivers are encouraged to follow posted traffic control measures and remain vigilant for construction crews.
Stay tuned for further updates as UDOT moves closer to completing this critical project.
