Angel Garden Ceremony: A night of remembrance and healing for families

Eagle Mountain families grieving the loss of a child will come together this Friday for the annual Angel Garden Ceremony, a heartfelt evening of remembrance and support.

The ceremony will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pony Express Memorial Cemetery.

“We are grateful for the ongoing support from the Mayor and City Council in making this meaningful gathering possible,” says Assistant City Manager Finn Kofoed. “The event offers an opportunity for those grieving the loss of a child to come together, find comfort in one another, and share strength and hope during the holiday season.”

Attendees are invited to write personal messages on ornaments, which will be placed on a live Christmas tree at the cemetery gazebo—a tribute to their loved ones.

The evening will conclude with a lantern launch at 7:30 p.m., symbolizing cherished memories and the enduring light of hope.

“Over the years, this gathering has fostered meaningful friendships, creating moments filled with tears, laughter, and peaceful reflection,” says Kofoed.

The event includes complimentary hot chocolate and donuts, offering a backdrop for conversations and companionship among attendees who understand the unique journey and grief of losing a child.

The Angel Garden Ceremony is free and open to all, providing a space for reflection and remembrance.

“Through it all, our message remains one of hope, support, and connection,” says Kofoed.
