Streets Department

Helping you reach your destination

Safety First

Eagle Mountain City is dedicated to ensuring safe road conditions. Our crews are hard at work providing pothole and patch repairs, signage, snow removal, sidewalks, striping, and sweeping. We’re proud to be one of the few cities in Utah with a fully-funded road maintenance plan. As our city grows, we’re committed to maintaining this high level of care.

If you have any questions about our department’s activities, feel free to reach out to us at (801) 789-6684, or email jwest@eaglemountain.gov. For emergencies like a missing or damaged stop sign, please call our City emergency hotline at (801) 789-5959 and select option 6 for Streets.  For any non-emergency issues, please visit our Resident Portal.

Crack Seal

Crack sealing keeps water from damaging the asphalt substructure. Our crews and contractors usually apply it between October and March when cracks are most open due to the colder weather.

Potholes & Patching

  • Nov. 1 – Feb. 29: Temporary repairs with road base and cold mix asphalt. Small areas can be permanently fixed with gap patching.
  • March 1 – Oct. 31: Proper repairs with sub-grade material, compaction, and hot mix asphalt. Larger projects go through a bid and contract process due to limited staff and equipment.

Preventive Maintenance Program

We’re utilizing a preventive maintenance program to keep our roads safe and high-quality while reducing costs. Our new construction standards include engineer-grade fill in all utility trenches under, or across, roadways to minimize settling and damage.

To report a damaged road, report it using our Resident Portal or call the Streets Department at 801-789-6684. For after-hours emergencies, please call the emergency hotline at 801-789-5959, Ext. 6.

Striping

Between April and October, City crews handle crosswalks, symbols, and curb striping. Lane striping for major roads like Ranches Parkway and Eagle Mountain Blvd. is done by contract. Striping is done once or twice a year, as needed.

Sweeping

Arterial roads are swept 4-5 times per year from March to November. Other City streets are swept once a year or as needed. Contractors are responsible for cleaning roads after construction. To report incidents like mud or debris on the road, contact the Neighborhood Improvement officers at 801-789-6690

Unpaved Roads

Unpaved roads are graded twice a year or as needed for safe driving at limited speeds. Snow removal occurs within 24 hours after snowfall for accumulations of six inches or more.

Snow Removal

Eagle Mountain City manages snow removal on city streets, while UDOT handles Cory B. Wride Memorial Highway (SR-73) and SR-68 (Redwood Road). We aim to maintain safe traction, but dry pavement isn’t guaranteed on all streets during every storm. Streets are plowed in the following priority order:

Priority 1: Arterial roads (Eagle Mountain Blvd., Ranches Parkway, Pony Express Parkway)

Priority 2: Collector roads, school zones, hills, and curves

Priority 3: Residential, alleyways, cul-de-sacs (cul-de-sacs are salted due to space limitations)

Priority 4: Unimproved roads

Sidewalks & Driveways

Homeowners are responsible for clearing snow and ice. Please don’t move snow or ice onto the roadways. Plowing might create a build-up of snow in front of driveways. We ask for your understanding and cooperation as we focus on keeping roads safe.

Winter Parking

No parking is permitted on city streets from Nov. 1 to March 15 if snow accumulates.

For questions about snow removal on city streets, call the Streets Department at (801) 789-6677. For SR-73 or Redwood Road, contact UDOT’s Region 3 office at (801) 227-8000 or visit their website.
