Gina Olsen appointed as new City recorder

Eagle Mountain City has appointed Gina Olsen as its new City Recorder, a role that focuses on preserving the City’s official records, overseeing elections and ensuring government transparency.

With 16 years of experience in municipal government, including prior service in Eagle Mountain’s Recorder’s Office, Olsen steps into the position ready to contribute.

“I’ll never forget driving out here 20 years ago on a quiet Sunday morning and being moved by the beauty along Eagle Mountain Boulevard,” Olsen said.

Her professional background includes extensive experience in managing records, conducting elections and delivering public service.

Olsen also brings insights from her recent private-sector work, which she credits for enhancing her customer service skills.

“I have a deep interest in how cities manage growth and planning, and I take a lot of satisfaction in serving the public with professionalism and care,” she said.

In Utah, the City Recorder plays a vital role as the custodian of municipal records, ensuring compliance with transparency laws, and administering elections.

Olsen steps into the role following the promotion of Finn Kofoed, who served as Eagle Mountain’s City Recorder for many years and is now the City’s Assistant City Manager.

Kofoed’s extensive experience and dedication have left a lasting impact on the Recorder’s Office, and she continues to work closely with the department in her new capacity. The City expresses deep appreciation for Kofoed’s years of service and her ongoing contributions to the community.

Olsen described the Recorder’s Office as “a central hub for information in the City,” emphasizing its mission to provide open access to records, preserve the City’s history and maintain fairness in elections.

Transparency and accessibility will be central to Olsen’s approach.

“Our residents are the City’s customers, and I’m committed to making government approachable, effective and user-friendly,” she stated.

Olsen plans to leverage digital tools such as the City’s website and social media to enhance public access to information and ensure residents stay informed.

Beyond her professional duties, Olsen enjoys life as an empty nester with her husband, Steve. They share their love for travel, food and hosting family gatherings, including time spent with their children and grandchildren who live nearby.

Olsen also enjoys the City’s major events, like the Christmas Village and Pony Express Days, which she enjoys attending with her grandchildren.
